“Great place in Lipe”
I stayed here for 11 days in November and had a great time there. Erawan and her crew have put a lot of effort to make the place comfortable and inviting. It is a place where you can hangout day and night if you wished to. A lot did.
Sunrise is definitely the better of the two main beaches, no matter what people seem to say. I don't get it-it was as clear as day which one was better to me. Pattaya is too crowded with longtails and has less beach space. A little easier swimming at Pattaya due to less coral but that was it. There are longtails on Sunrise beach too but the beach is much larger to accommodate them. The 50 metre area at the front of the resort is cordoned off so theres plenty of room to swim freely. Plenty of snorkelling opportunities right off the shore too. The longtails are very loud yes, but this is part and parcel with most Thai islands and a small trade off for everything else there that is great.
I stayed in the wooden bungalows and can recommend beachfront, as the hammocks look directly onto the beach. Worth the extra 250 baht. A nice way to spend the afternoon. The second row is also good option but you don't have quite the same vibe in the view from your hammock. But, its a little cheaper though too... Other than that, the wooden rooms are exactly the same.
Excellent large mattresses too-quality bedding. A nice surprise. I didn't feel the need for aircon even when it was hot. The fan and net setup works very well. Basic sturdy bungalows but with a luxurious feel to them.
Food at the resort was quite good I thought (esp breakfast) and not too pricey compared to walking street. The bar area has a nice ambience about it and definitely caters to the smooth cafe del mar vibe musically.
Plenty of daybeds and hammocks around the bar and beachfront make the difference. The resort dogs gave a very homely vibe to the place too.
Pricewise I think its reasonable for the ambience and location on Lipe. And I looked around a lot. There are comparable bungalows in the price range but I think the ambience of the bar area and attention to detail to make it relaxing and comfortable is the difference here.
There is a small walk of about 10-15 minutes through the chao ley village from walking street which would be better if you take a flashlight if you're coming back late. I don't consider it too far away from walking street but I thought before coming it might have been. It's really not a big deal-the island is small. Also the option is to walk home along the beach. A few barking dogs might startle you here and there at night but they're not aggressive, they're just doing what dogs do.
Highly recommended. I'll be back.

“Lipe - take good care of your Island...”
We stayed in a wooden bungalow, (V2) okay for value, but cleaning was not acceptable upon arrival - looked like bird nest inside the room and also in bathroom - moddy thing, dont know what was kept there, but we survived - :-)
We looked SO much forward visiting Lipe - and it is really a wonderful Island... but must say this is nearly becoming a "new Phi Phi" - please take good care your Island - don't let it become another tourist trap - The Island is still beautyful snorkling directly from the Beach - thank you Lipe Beach Resort - you are one of few resorts at Lipe, really trying to keep the Beach clean - other beaches were dirty - no one took care.. really dissapointing.
We did not use the restaurant a lot, as the Wind was strong at the time, we stayed, so we choosed going into the walking street for dining we enjoyed breakfast a couple of times, and it was very okay - overall a nice stayBook now

I stayed here for a week in March with a friend and fell in love with the place. We actually booked for 2 nights in a beach front wooden bungalow. We knew exactly what to expect having checked Trip Advisor before travelling. We decided that we liked it so much to stay for a further 4 nights, rather than wasting time travelling to another island. We moved into a bamboo bungalow a few rows back. We were advised that is was a smaller bungalow so there weren't any surprises - but then what do you expect for almost half the price!
The bathrooms are perfectly adequate, with cold showers - which I actually loved given the stupidly high temperatures. We sometimes had a visit from a few inquisitive frogs - all completely harmless.
The bar, restaurant and beach area was also really nice. Fantastic views. I don't think I've stayed anywhere with a better view. I would also recommend the fruit museli with yoghurt for breakfast and smoothies!!!
All staff were very helpful and friendly all the time. There are a few dogs owned by Lipe Beach Resort. All are well kept, happy and loved dogs. Sometimes they get a bit territorial if another dog comes on their patch, but this can't be helped as is the nature of dogs.
Don't be concerned about longtail boats in front of the resort, they're all gone during the day and only come back late afteroon/early evening.
I only have one thing to add, that isn't a complaint by any means as my stay was about perfect. The day before we left I asked if we could check out a little later (about an hour later) and pay for the privilege, simply so that we could have a little longer on the beach before leaving. Although there probably wasn't anyone waiting for our bungalow the reception staff couldn't understand why I would request this and declined my request. It's not a problem, it's just that sometimes guests may wish to pay for late checkout.
I would definitely return to this place if ever I visit Thailand again. Wonderful. Many thanks.Book now
